PURPOSE: To widen usage and to develope application to many fields by providing a discoloring device to change the color of a thermal discoloring layer by directly contacting it with or placing it close to discoloring elements forming the thermal discoloring layer, or through an air supplying means with an electrothermal conversion element, a radiator and the like.
CONSTITUTION: This discoloring device 1 changes a color of a thermal discoloring layer 121 by directly contacting with or coming close to discoloring elements which form the thermal discoloring layer 121, or through an air supplying means to supply cold or hot air. This discoloring device 1 is provided with an electrothermal conversion element 2 having the Peltier effect, which is formed by jointing a P-type semiconductor element and an N-type semiconductor element alternately through a metal piece and sandwiched with heat conductive insulators on the upper and lower surfaces in the form of a combined unit, a radiator 3 arranged in combination on the heating side of the electrothermal conversion element 2, and a casing 8. The discoloring device 1 is formed in a pencil shape, for example, as shown in the figure, a cold and hot air blowing shape, a cold and hot air circulating shape or the like. In the pencil-shaped one, a pencil-top-shaped heat transmitting member 6 is provided in continuation with the radiator 3.
