To provide a disk device capable of loading a disk in a device by an easier method of higher degree of freedom.
A disk is mounted on the disk mounting surface of a front cover fixed between the standby position and the recording/reproducing position of the disk mounting surface of a turntable. The disk and the turntable are automatically centered by a centering means adapted to symmetrically abut on the disk around a first plane passed through the center of the turntable and orthogonal to the disk mounting surface of the turntable and a second plane passed through the center of the turntable and roughly orthogonal to the first plane. During recording/reproducing, an optical pickup and the turntable moves from the standby position to the recording/reproducing position at an opening part formed in a part of the front cover.
