PURPOSE: To obtain the disk device equipped with a function which informs an operator of trouble of the disk device, the state of forgetful noninsertion of a cable, etc., without looking at state information on the disk device which is displayed on a host device.

CONSTITUTION: A microcomputer part 2 detects the states of respective parts constituting the device and outputs a buzzer sounding control signal whose ON/OFF intervals and ON-time length are controlled corresponding to the states to a driver circuit part 12. The driver circuit part 12 outputs the GND signal of a control board and said signal from the microcomputer part 2. A buzzer control part 13 sends the signal of a transmitter continuously in the absence of the GND signal to make a buzzer sounds, so that the buzzer sounds corresponding to the ON/OFF interval and ON-time length of the buzzer sounding control signal when the GND signal is at a low level.
