Abstract:

To realize the remarkably narrow track width by easier control of the strict dimension in the manufacturing process, improvement of the magnetic property of the deposited material and decrease of the shading effect in the dry etching process.

In the disk drive writing head 10 provided with a lower side magnetic pole 60, a 1st insulated layer 64 formed on the lower side magnetic pole 60, a coil 38 formed on the 1st insulated layer, a 2nd insulated layer 66 formed on the coil 38, a writing gap layer 76 formed on the 2nd insulated layer 66 and an upper side magnetic pole formed on the writing gap layer 76, the upper side magnetic pole 12 is made to the almost flattened state. The head in the 2nd embodiment 100 is manufactured by using a Damascene method.
