To forcibly separate heads from a disk recording medium at the time of disconnecting power source by moving up and down the heads between a head loading position and a head unloading position with respect to a disk shaped recording medium and holding a head elevating and lowering mechanism at the head loading position with a rotary arm at the time of applying power source.
When a spindle motor is turned on, head elevating and lowering arms 332, 333 of a head elevating and lowering mechanism 331 are ejected from the inside of a suspension to the direction of the arrow F to load magnetic heads on a floppy disk. Simultaneously, the rotary arm 385 of a latch mechanism 381 is rotated and is attracted to a plunger 383 to be in a head loading state. When power source is disconnected, the supplying of electric current to the plunger is turned off and a carriage 111 is slid to the outermost peripheral side of the floppy disk and the head elevating and lowering arms 332, 333 are inserted from the direction of the arrow into the suspension to push up the heads to the head unloading position.
