Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a pigment dispersant suitable for the fields of paints, colored resin compositions, etc., and capable of producing a dispersion excellent in non-aggregation property, flowability and storage stability; a method for producing the same; and a pigment composition using the same.SOLUTION: The pigment dispersant is produced by reacting a hydroxyl group in a vinyl polymer (A) having three or more hydroxyl groups in a one-end region, obtained by radically polymerizing an ethylenically unsaturated monomer (b) in the presence of a compound (a) having three or more hydroxyl groups and one thiol group within a molecule, with an acid anhydride group in a carboxylic acid anhydride (c). The pigment dispersant is also produced by radically polymerizing the ethylenically unsaturated monomer (b) in the presence of a compound obtained by reacting a hydroxyl group in the compound (a) having three or more hydroxyl groups and one thiol group in a molecule with an acid anhydride group in the carboxylic acid anhydride (c).
