To provide a display device capable of easily setting sewing data correspondingly to a variety of conditions such as the kinds of materials to be sewn and differences in operating conditions, or the like.

The display device 1, which is provided in a sewing machine having its sewing action determined based upon the sewing data consisting of a plurality of setting items 11, includes a liquid crystal display part 10 for displaying a display screen on which the sewing data are set, and an operating switch part 20 with switches for the input of the sewing data. The display device 1 selectively displays on the liquid crystal display part 10 a lower hierarchy screen T for displaying all of the setting items 11 and an upper hierarchy screen S for displaying particular setting items 11 selected as desired from among the setting items 11 displayed on the lower hierarchy screen T. An operator can easily set the sewing data by causing the upper hierarchy screen S to be displayed.
