To provide a display device for a vehicle, capable of securing safety for travelling the vehicle and enhancing the driveability by a user while facilitating to recognize the existence of a set-up screen.

The display device for a vehicle includes: a display monitor 8 for displaying a screen 81 having an information image in the vehicle; an input operation means which has a set-up operation means 7, sets up a set-up screen for setting display conditions of the information image by a switching operation of the set-up operating means and which performs an input operation through an operation different from that of switching; a stop-state determining means for determining whether or not the vehicle is in a stop state based on the detected state of the vehicle; an input prohibition means for prohibiting the input operation means from performing the input operation when the vehicle is determined to be in a stop state; an operation-prohibiting-screen-forming means for forming an operation-prohibiting-screen that displays an operation-prohibiting image on the condition that the input operation by the input operation means is prohibited; and an operation-prohibiting-screen-cancellation means for returning the operation-prohibiting image to the set-up screen when a predetermined display period "To" elapses for the display of the operation-prohibiting-screen through the operation-prohibiting-screen forming means.
