To solve a problem that white balance is deviated from initial setting when a display device is continuously used.

The display device includes a display section including light emission elements emitting light in mutually different colors, a luminance control unit that image signals are input, multiplies a gray scale level of each color in the image signals by a coefficient irrespective of colors and outputs the result to the display unit, and a statistical processing unit that statistically processes an aggregate of the image signals constituting the image displayed by the display unit, determines a color representing the image, and outputs it to the luminance control unit. The faster the luminance degrading rate, the smaller the coefficients are set by the luminance control unit according to the color representing the image.
