Abstract:
PURPOSE:To reduce the space for the device and to make a display in a light place by arranging an optical deflecting means where many prisms which have ridges in the inward direction of a display surface crossing the directivity of display picture elements at right angles contiguously to the display picture elements are arrayed at right angles to the ridges. CONSTITUTION:A display means 2 has an optical fiber bundle 10 as an image transmission body. The original image input end surface 10a of the optical fiber bundle 10 is arranged opposite an active display device such as a CRT and the display end surface 10b slants at an angle alpha to the lengthwise direction of the optical fibers, so projection light has sharp directivity in the length direction of the optical fibers. For the optical deflecting means providing contiguously to the display means 2, the face 16 of the observing side is a plane. On the side of the display means 2, the prisms having their ridges in a (y) direction are arranged in a (z) direction. Therefore, the light which is incident from the display means 2 is transmitted through a 1st surface 18 and reflected by a 2nd surface 20 to travel in the normal direction of the display surface 18.
