PURPOSE: To draw images at a high speed by converting the pattern information and the color luminance information into the digital information of a packed pixel form by means of hardware.

CONSTITUTION: A data conversion circuit 24 converts the pattern data, the color character data, and the background data given from a processing part 21 into the data of a packed pixel form. These converted data are written into a display memory part 25 and then converted into the video signals via a display part 26. These video signals are displayed on a display as the picture data. In such a way, the hardware is used for conversion of those data into the display data of a packed pixel form. Thus the image drawing speed is improved.
