PURPOSE: To display a pattern, etc., in any color at a high speed by using a font memory in a time-division mode by providing one font memory block with several page buffer memories.

CONSTITUTION: The output pulse of timing generating part 13 is supplied to page buffer memories 12a to 12c, where time-division access is attained, so that addresses will be sent to memory 11 where the font of a pattern, etc., in stored. Memory 11 outputs signals equivalent to those addresses in parallel according to the order of red, green and blue and shift registers 14 to 16 receive them, shift them by the same shift pulse and converts parallel signals into series signals, thereby displaying them on color CRT via output terminals 19 to 21. Setting a ratio of the numbers of stages of registers 14, 15 and 16 to 5:4:3 allows series signals of the same font address to appear at their output terminals at the same time, so that high-speed display will be possible. Since memories 12a to 12c are independent one another, various-color display on a picture-element dot unit is possible. In addition, memories only require small capacity.
