Abstract:
PURPOSE:To achieve a higher distance measuring accuracy by a method wherein infrared rays from a first infrared projection element of a range finder body is received with an infrared photodetector of an object to be inspected and infrared rays from a second infrared projecting element are received with a photodetector for detecting a distance of the range finder body. CONSTITUTION:When a projecting LED 14 of a range finder body 12 faces a photodetector 18 of a target 21 at an object 11 to be inspected on a reference line A-A', infrared rays 13 emitted from the LED 14 are received with the photodetector 18. Based on a reception signal of the photodetector 18, infrared rays 22 emitted from a projecting LED 20 of the target 21 are received with a photodetector 15 for measuring distance through a light receiving lens system 17 to measure a distance to the object 11 to be inspected from the body 12 depending on the position of receiving the ray. This enables accurate measure ment of distances.
