PURPOSE: To provide a distribution type measuring apparatus and its measuring method and a distribution type sensor device which can enhance the the usefulness, profitability, economy, and rationality in a system which measures temperature or distortion utilizing a Brillouin gain and a Brillouin loss.
CONSTITUTION: Light from a laser light source 1 is transmitted into a photosensor fiber 6 via a first optical path and the light from the laser light source 1 into the photosensor fiber 6 via a second optical path. During the use of the apparatus, two beams are propagated through the photosensor fiber 6 in the opposite direction to each other, and by the interaction of light from the two beams, one power of the beams is reduced by a Brillouin loss or one power of the beams is increased by a Brillouin gain. The loss or gain is measured and the results give an indicative value of temperature or distortion in the photosensor fiber 6.
