Abstract:

PURPOSE: A dog and cat repellent, consisting essentially of diethyltoluamide or/ and menthol, having hatred for dogs and cats, capable of exhibiting the effect thereof in a relatively small amount, having good residual effect, and useful for preventing various damages, e.g. bite wounds, by dogs and cats.

CONSTITUTION: A dog and cat repellent, obtained by incorporating (A) diethyltoluamide (N,N-diethyl-m-toluamide) or/and (B) menthol as main components with kerosine or petroleum liquefied gas if necessary, and used in the form of an aerosol, emulsion, powder, preferably the aerosol. The above mentioned repellent having the above-mentioned effect can be used for preventing mischief and bite wound accidents by dogs and cats and as a training agent, etc. by application or coating onto the vicinity of flower beds, places for avoiding the damage of excreta of the dogs and cats or clothing of mailmen, etc. The component (A) has low toxicity to humans and animals and no irritation to the skin even on contact therewith. On the other hand, the component (B) is used for medicinal use without fear of safety.
