PURPOSE: To perform the interfield correction of a display image and obtain a display image with high resolution by shifting the position relation of a line displayed with one scanning line by a half as large as the number of lines between an odd-numbered and an even-numbered field.
CONSTITUTION: A voltage (k, j) responding to an input signal is applied to liquid-crystal picture element (i-1, j) and (i, j) in some field by using sampling timing (k, j) and a voltage (l, j) [where (k) and (j) are different in polar ity]corresponding to the input voltage is applied to liquid-crystal picture elements (i, j) and (i+1, j) in the next field. Consequently, when one liquid-crystal picture element (i, j) is viewed, the applied voltage which has the mean value of (k, j) and (l, j) is applied practically. Therefore, the display density of liquid- crystal picture elements is determined according to the result of interfield correc tion between the input image signal and an odd-numbered and an even-numbered field.
