PURPOSE: To reduce noise due to head slide and to enhance the reproduction efficiency by specifying a ratio of a video head on a tape slide face of an inner core in the drive direction to an interval of both heads.

CONSTITUTION: The head is configured in a way of arrangement of two video heads 4, 5 whose azimuth angle of gaps 11, 12 is made differentiated from each other side by side at a prescribed interval in the slide direction of a tape 15 and the interval L between the gaps 11, 12 is selected to be constant. Moreover, a ratio k/l of a length (k) of inner side cores 7, 8 of the heads 4, 5 opposite to each other in the direction of rotation of the heads 4, 5 on the tape slide face to a length l of the gap 6 is selected to be 0.2 - 1.625. The slide noise is reduced by selecting the ratio k/l to be the said upper limit or below and the reproduction efficiency is improved by selecting the ratio k/l to be the said lower limit or over.
