PURPOSE: To produce a sheet of double-side recording paper for ink jet recording, having a high recording density in both the front and the back surfaces and excellent in recording quality when recording is carried out on both the surfaces with an ink jet and provide a method for producing the recording paper.
CONSTITUTION: This sheet of double-side recording paper for ink jet recording is obtained by forming coating layers containing at least a pigment and a water- based binder in an amount of 0.5-4.0g/m2 expressed in terms of solid matters based on one surface on both the surfaces of a sheet of base paper, formed by using a papermaking pulp slurry containing at least a filler and an internally added size and having 50-180g/m2 basis weight. The filler content in the whole base paper is 3-20wt.% and the difference in the amount of the filler in the paper in layers up to respective 30μm depths between the front and the back surfaces of the base paper is within the range of 0-30% based on the average value of the filler content in the paper in the surface layer and the filter content in the paper in the back layer.
