PURPOSE: To improve heat transfer performance between fluid, which flows through an inner tube, and other fluid, which flows between both tubes, by a method wherein the tip ends of tongue-like fins, formed integrally on the outer periphery of the inner tube, are contacted with the inner peripheral surface of an outer tube.
CONSTITUTION: A double tube type heat exchanger 1 consists of an outer tube 10, made by an aluminum brazing sheet having the layer of brazing material 11 on both of inner and outer peripheral surfaces, and an inner tube 20, made by an aluminum extruded shape and arranged coaxially in the outer tube 10, while a space between both tubes 10, 20 is utilized as an oil passage 2. A plurality of rows of fin 23, consisting of cut-and-raised tongue-like fins 22, is provided on the outer peripheral surface of the inner tube 20 with predetermined intervals lengthwisely and circumferentially. The tip ends of the fins 22 are brazed onto the inner surface of the outer tube 10. The fins 22 are removed along a predetermined length from both ends of the inner tube 20 to form parts 24 having no fin. According to this method, fluid, flowing through a space between both tubes 10, 20 and whose heat is to be exchanged, is provided with turbulent flow whereby heat transfer performance of the the heat exchanger may be improved.
