To provide an outer mirror having a more larger installing space for a built-in device in a mirror housing without decreasing structure strength of the outer mirror.
An outer mirror is provided, which includes a double-wall carrier plate 8 having a front wall 36, a back wall 38, and a free space 42 and a web 44 provided between the walls 36, 38. The free space 42 between webs 44 can be used for inserting any device therein. The carrier plate 8 can be fixed to a holder by connecting members 48, 52 inserted and fixed between the front wall 36 and the back wall 38. Compared with a conventional design, the front wall 36, the back wall 38, and the inner web 44 extending between the walls 36, 38 can be formed from a thin material. The double-wall carrier plate 8 can be formed from metal. The double-wall carrier plate 8 has high structure strength, so that can be formed from plastic.
