Title:
DOWN HALL ACOUSTIC CONVERTER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3177273
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a high performance acoustic converter which is suitable for use as a hole drilling earthquake supply source.
CONSTITUTION: A down hall acoustic converter has two pairs of long segments 20 which are arranged inside a deformable pipe 14 and are extended in opposite directions, and a drive means 22 which can be expanded in the vertical direction for the axial direction is arranged between each pair of segments 20. A favorable configuration has a drive means for one pair of segments 20 displaced in the longitudinal and axial direction from a drive means for the other pair of segments 20. The drive means is composed of an accumulation body consisting of a piezo electric pelette which is extended in the radial direction for a pipe axis. A pressure compensation system is provided to maintain pressure inside the pipe 14 at substantially equal pressure to external pressure. A groove in the longitudinal and axial direction is formed inside the pipe 14 between the segment 20 and the segment 20 to facilitate the deformation of the pipe and increase changes of volume.
