PURPOSE: To always maintain high quality output image and to make it possible to output thin lines treated for antiareasing securely by carrying out antiareasing processing based on an antiareasing processing purpose filter selected by a selecting means and the minimum line width.
CONSTITUTION: n×m test patterns produced from (n) reference patterns using (n) antiareasing processing filters are stored in a storage means 10. Further, a plurality of test patterns are output to recording paper via a writing means 20. Output image reading means 30 sequentially reads test patterns and outputs test patterns to a selecting means 40. The selecting means 40 compares output images with test patterns to obtain the best regenerative test pattern. Following that, the selecting means 40 selects the best regenerative line width as the minimum line width. Antiareasing processing means 50 executes antiareasing processing based on processing filters and the minimumline width.
