PURPOSE: To set the most suitable dress interval in accordance with sharpness of a grinding wheel regardless of grinding wheel diameter and grinding wheel material quality.
CONSTITUTION: A dressing control device of a grinding wheel to grind a workpiece W in a specified size by a cut-in delivery motion of a grinding wheel 121 and to dress the grinding wheel as sharpness of the grinding wheel 121 is deteriorated is furnished with a size measuring means 200 to measure processing size of the workpiece W to be ground by the grinding wheel 121, a timing means 210 to time the time in accordance with a size measurement signal of the size measuring means 200, a discrimination means 220 to discriminate sharpness of the grinding stone 121 on the basis of the size measurement signal from the size measuring means 200 and the timing hour of the timing means 210 and a control means 230 to input the grinding stone to a dress cycle at the time when the discrimination means 220 judges deterioration of the sharpness of the grinding wheel 121.
