Abstract:

PURPOSE: To detect an invariably accurate angular velocity of rotation by providing a means which turns over the rotational angular velocity detection surface of the optical gyro by 180°, and comparing detected quantities before and after the turning-over operation with each other and detecting a zero point.

CONSTITUTION: An optical fiber gyro device is a single-body device formed by providing an optical module 7 to a drum 9 provided with an optical fiber coil 8, and the rotational angular detection surface of the optical gyro is inverted by 180° to perform zero-point detection by comparing detected quantities before and after the inverting operation with each other. Therefore, drift correction of the optical gyro and the calibration of detection sensitivity are performed optionally during the use of the optical gyro, so tha accumulation of errors is eliminated and the invariably accurate rotational angular speed is detected.
