Title:
DRINKING WATER PURIFIER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH03296486
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To suppress the growth of bacteria even when bacteria are bonded to activated carbon and to eliminate the unpleasant smell of the water after the treatment with activated carbon by introducing a composition wherein a predetermined amount of silver particles are mixed with activated carbon into a drinking water purifier before using the same.

CONSTITUTION: Silver particles are mixed with activated carbon by a means uniformly mixing a predetermained amount of silver particles with activated carbon particles or a means bonding a predetermined amount of silver particles to activated carbon particles by flame spraying and the obtained mixture is put in a drinking water purifier to be used. The flame spraying of the silver particles to the activated carbon particles is performed by an electric wire melting type flame spraying method melting a metal wire by an arc or a gas wire melting type flame spraying method melting the metal wire by a high temp. flame. The obtained activated carbon suppresses the growth of bacteria by the growth suppressing effect of bacteria possessed by silver even when bacteria are bonded to activated carbon and prevents the generation of the unpleasant taste or offensive smell based on the propagation of bacteria.
