Abstract:

To solve shortage of driving force at start by providing an engine/ motor start means, in which a clutch is slippingly engaged at engine speed over a fixed value, an electric motor is rotationally driven in the running direction of a vehicle, and the vehicle is started by both the engine and the electric motor as the power source.

At running a vehicle, one of a plurality of operation modes is selected, and an engine 12 and an electric torque converter 24 are operated in the selected mode. Namely at start of the vehicle, a first mode is selected, a clutch CE1 is disengaged, a clutch CE2 is engaged, the engine 12 is stopped, and a motor generator 14 is rotationally moved at required output so as to start the vehicle. However when it is judged to be unable to start the vehicle by shortage of the driving force of the motor generator 14, the other mode is selected, the clutch CE1 is engaged in a fixed slip condition, the clutch CE2 is engaged, and hence the vehicle is started by the output of the engine 12 and the motor generator 14.
