Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive device for a rotary electric machine capable of charging a capacitor during use of a protection circuit including an active element, in a simple configuration.SOLUTION: When a protection circuit active element 17 is turned off, a current from a motor 3 flows through reflux diodes 14u, 14v and 14w to a DC plus line 8, a capacitor 10 is charged from the DC plus line 8, and a charge amount of the capacitor 10 is increased. When the protection circuit active element 17 is turned on, a current from the motor 3 flows through the reflux diodes 14u, 14v and 14w to the DC plus line 8 and flows from the DC plus line 8 through the protection circuit active element 17 to a neutral point 19 of the motor 3. The capacitor 10 is not charged. Further, power of the capacitor 10 is consumed by accessories 29 with traveling of a vehicle 1, so that the charge amount of the capacitor 10 is decreased. This operation is repeated by switching the protection circuit active element 17.
