Abstract:
To provide a drive unit for a display tube capable of effectively reducing electric power consumption of the display tube in a stand-by mode, to be suitable sufficiently for practical use; and a driving method.
The drive unit for the display tube for applying a filament voltage Vf to a filament of the display tube 21 installed in AV equipment includes control means 17, 20, 25 for applying the filament voltage Vf of specified level (+5V) to the filament of the display tube 21, when the AV equipment is in a usual mode, and for applying the filament voltage Vf lower than the specified level (+5V) to the filament of the display tube 21, when the AV equipment is in the stand-by mode.
