PURPOSE: To provide a ultrasonic motor driving device which does not abruptly change the driving speed of an ultrasonic motor, can suppress the sound producing and vibrating amounts of the motor, and can drive the motor at a low speed in a quiet and stable state when the motor is driven intermittently.

CONSTITUTION: This ultrasonic motor driving device is constituted of a ROM 65 which stores a plurality of parameter values of pulsative driving signals and a driving signal switching circuit 66 which periodically changes the parameter values of the driving signals impressed upon the piezo-electric body of an ultrasonic motor 37 under the control of a CPU 64 and drives the motor 37 by impressing the pulsative driving signals upon the piezo-electric body of the motor 37. When the motor 37 is intermittently driven, the driving device switches its output between a high and low levels by periodically changing the parameter value of the driving signal impressed upon the piezo-electric body so as to eliminate an abrupt change in the driving speed.
