PURPOSE: To decrease the number of parts and the number of connection points by forming a scan side driving circuit by a circuit for generating a scan selecting signal and a scan non-selecting signal, a timing signal generating circuit having a matrix circuit, and a switching circuit.
CONSTITUTION: When an output stage signal C from a shift register 421, which has passed through a matrix circuit 422 is H, transistors Tr1, Tr3,... of a switching circuit part 43 are selected, a signal waveform A from a scan selecting signal waveform generating circuit 413 is outputted to a scan electrode group. On the other hand, when the signal C is L, Tr2, Tr4,... of the circuit 43 are selected, and a signal waveform D from a scan non-selecting signal waveform generating circuit 414 is outputted to the scan electrode group. Accordingly, to a scanning line to which a scan non-selecting signal is outputted, a scan selecting signal is switched successively to the scan non-selecting signal and outputted in one horizontal scanning period. According to such a constitution, the total number of switching Trs used for a scan side driving circuit which has two scanning signal phases,and also, in which the scanning signals by each phase have the polarity opposite to each other can be decreased.
