To simplify the whole of the constitution of a device, to facilitate maintaining/repairing and to reduce the cost of a product by simultaneously removing drip lines from respective developing units of yellow, magenta, cyan and black.
The gear cams of the developing units 501-504 of each hue of yellow, magenta, cyan and black are simultaneously rotated. When a frame is raised, developing rollers are rotated to coat an image part on a photoreceptive belt with a developer. Thus, when developing stages in each hue are completed, it is discriminated whether the passage through a transfer roller, of the image part is completed or not. When the passage is completed, the gear cams of the respective developing units of yellow, magenta, cyan and black are simultaneously rotated again. When the distance between the frame and the photoreceptive belt is at a set value, the gear cams of the respective developing units of yellow, magenta, cyan and black are simultaneously stopped. Then, squeezing rollers in the respective developing units are reversely rotated simultaneously to remove the drip lines simultaneously.
