Abstract:
To develop a direct injection type internal combustion engine further, and maintain the torque of the internal combustion engine substantially at desirable target torque even during switching-over of an operation mode.
The internal combustion engine is driven with uniform characteristics (HMM) at least in a lean drive mode. The drive mode provides control of producing a constant lambda value. The lambda value varies between a lower lambda limit value and an upper lambda limit value. The lambda limit values are extended in a given operating condition.
