Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable less suppression of variation of an optical state and to enable high speed driving by dispersing a selecting pulse into plural pulses in one frame.
CONSTITUTION: Plural row electrodes of a matrix liquid crystal display element are divided into plural row electrode subgroups formed by containing plural row electrodes, respectively, and one row electrode subgroup is selected and driven in a lump. To the row electrode, a voltage having amplitude of Vr (Vr>0)in the positive or negative direction for an intermediate voltae is divided into plural stages and applied, as a selecting voltage at the time of selection. This volrtave is preset so taht an absolute value of amplitude is equal and its polarity becomes opposite for the intermediate voltage, in the first half part and the latter half part of its waveform. In such way, in a period in which one screen is selected once, a selecting pluse is dispersed by the number of pieces of stages and appars.
