Abstract:

PURPOSE: To carry out dry distillation efficiently in a high oil yield by preventing local heat decomposition, by preheating a finely divided hydrocarbon-contg. solid with gas from a combustion furnace, introducing it into a specified dry distillation furnace, rapidly mixing it with stripping gas and carrying out dry distillation.

CONSTITUTION: A hydrocarbon-contg. raw material is crushed into a powder having a particle size of not larger than 1mm, fed to cyclone type heat exchangers 1 and 1' in order and dried and dehydrated with combustion gas at 300W600°C from combustors 3 and 3' to preheat the powder to 150W200°C. The preheated powder and a powder at 600W800°C from the combustors 3 and 3' are fed to the uppermost spouted bed of a dry distillation furnace 2 composed of multi-stage spouted beds. Stripping gas 20 contg. no oxygen as a spouting gas is rapidly mixed with the powders by blowing it into the bed to keep the temp. with in the furnace uniform at 480W520°C and to prevent local heat decomposition, thus dry-distilling 80W90% of the hydrocarbon in the raw material. THe remainder thereof is fed to lower spouting beds 2-2 in sequence to dry-distill it. The residual carbon-contg. powder/fine particle solid 12 is fed from the bottom of the bed to the combustor 3 to burn it. The formed oil mist and dry distilled gas are passed through a cyclone 5 and a condenser 6 to recover water 18, oil 17 and dry-distilled gas 19.
