To uniformly dry the entire dried objects in a drying vessel by preventing the unevenness in drying the dried objects, with respect to a drying device and a drying method for drying the moist dried objects.

In this drying device comprising a rotating means for rotating a rotary blade, and a revolving means for rotating the rotating means on a center of the drying vessel as a rotating shaft, the rotating means and the revolving means are respectively driven by motors as driving sources independent from each other, the motor for rotating the rotary blade is provided with a frequency convertor for increasing and decreasing the frequency of the power source in steps and arbitrarily changing the rotation frequency of the rotary blade, and a rotation frequency selecting means is mounted for selecting the optimum rotation frequency in each drying process, and selecting the rotation frequency lower than the selected optimum rotation frequency of the rotary blade corresponding to the upper limit of electric power, when the rotation of the rotary blade has overload.
