To provide a registering method capable of dynamically registering or deleting a dump data set during the operation of a computer system and a sampling method for sampling dump data without leaving data unwritten.
The computer system is provided with a registering means capable of registering a dump data set 3-1 e.g. in the system at the time of starting the system and capable of registering the dump data set 3-1 in a dump data managing table 2 even after the completion of the start of the system, a deleting means capable of deleting the dump data set 3-1 and a protection means for disabling a means other than the deleting means from deleting the registered dump data set 3-1 to prevent the registered clump data set 3-1 from disappearing or being destructed. The system is also provided with a dump data continuous sampling means for writing dump data in a 1st storage part of a magnetic disk allocated by a clump data set 3-1 previously registered in the system, and when the capacity of dump data exceeds that of the 1st storage part, continuously writing dump data dumped and left in the 1st storage part in a 2nd storage part of a magnetic disk allocated by another dump data set 3-2 e.g.
