To provide an ear type clinical thermometer in which detection elements can be controlled to obtain an appropriate measurement state.
The ear thermometer includes a temperature detection element and an infrared detection element and calculates the temperature of a subject, based on the detection result. The detection elements arranged inside the tip of a probe to be inserted into an ear cavity and a body are supported by three or more control bodies arranged in a triangular shape. The control bodies are controlled thereby to triaxially (three degrees of freedom) control the position of a detection part with respect to the body. Then, the detection part is directed to a target measurement region. After the control is completed, the temperature of the subject is measured based on the detected temperature of the target region.
