Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an earthquake resisting device readily applicable to even existing buildings and to prevent or reduce rolling and pitching and floating caused by high winds. SOLUTION: An earthquake resisting device is provided in a predetermined position between a continuous footing 1 and a floor frame member 2 sustaining a building structure. In that case, the earthquake resisting device has a rolling mechanism by which the floor frame member 2 sustaining the building structure is supported in such a way as to freely slide relative to the continuous footing 1 in a certain direction within the range of 360 degrees in the horizontal direction; a damping mechanism damping the sliding movement caused by the rolling mechanism; a restoration mechanism restoring the floor frame member 2 that has slid; and a tightening mechanism holding the building structure in a vertical relative position to the continuous footing 1.
