PURPOSE: To automatically set a proximate rotating orbit by isolating a detector from its rotating center radially, rotating said detector around a patient testingly and obtaining the proximate orbit after the patient is fixed at the rotating center.
CONSTITUTION: At first a patient 12 is set at the rotating center of a detector 10 and the detector 10 is sufficiently safely separated from the patient 12 properly. Next, when an ECT starting switch is pushed, the detector 10 is automatically rotated around the patient 12 and gamma ray irradiated in a fixed area is counted after the detector 10 reaches up to a proper position. A threshold corresponding to a gamma ray image of each position obtained by testingly rotating the detector 10 is set and said threshold is compared with measured counting. The value exceeding the threshold is recorded, operated and the profile of the patient body is obtained. Along the body a driving system of the detector 10 is controlled and an ECT photograph is performed.
