Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric field sensor having reduced shot noise and heightened durability.
SOLUTION: The electric field sensor is provided with a laser light source 2 for making laser light 6 in a linearly polarized state incident onto an EO (Electro optic) crystal 3; a PBS (Polarizing Beam Splitter) 4 for separating a first linearly polarized component and a second linearly polarized component from each other which intersect with laser light emergent from the EO crystal 3; and a PD (Photo Detector) 5 for detecting a linearly polarized component having weak light intensity among the first linearly polarized component and the second linearly polarized component.
