Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To let a holding member follow thermal deformation of an outer cylinder so as to suppress deformation due to thermal distortion when the holding member for a retreat preventing retainer is connected to the outer cylinder in an electric heating type catalyst.
SOLUTION: In an electric heating type catalyst device constructed of a honeycomb body 7, a plurality of ceramic bars, and a holding member 20, the cylindrical honeycomb body 7 formed by spirally winding laminated metal foil, in which corrugated foil and flat foil are overlapped each other, is stored in a metallic outer cylinder 11, and heating is carried out when the honeycomb body 7 is excited. The holding member 20, in which a holding part 29 is arranged so as to receive the ceramic bars 22, crosses the end face on the exhaust downstream side of the honeycomb body 7 and can be followably deformed after the deformation of the outer cylinder 11. The followably deformable structure can be accomplished when the holding member 20 is constructed of a cylindrical metal plate 12, in which a notch part 23 is arranged. As a result, scoping in the honeycomb body 7 is prevented, while a temperature distribution of the holding member 20 is unified, so that durability of the holding member 20 is improved.
