A permanent magnet DC motor 10 has a permanent magnet stator including at least one permanent magnet 14. The permanent magnet 14 faces the pole of an armature core 26 with a small air gap between them. A speed sensor 12 disposed with the air gap detects the rotation of the core. The speed sensor 12 is single layer wound coil fixed on the surface of the magnet 14 which faces the armature core. Terminals 38 of the coils are disposed at a shaft end face of the magnets and fitted on a finger which makes elastic deformation possible or spring bias terminals 36 which are fixed to a motor end cap 20.
