PURPOSE: To improve operability and recognizability by providing an inverted U-shaped handle part allowed to be levered forward being pivoted at an upper part near the center of gravity position of the body of an electric vacuum cleaner and concentrating a frequently used operation switch part and an operating condition display part inside the handle part.
CONSTITUTION: A top cover 10 of the body of an electric vacuum cleaner and a lid cover 12 thereof are divided longitudinally near the center of gravity position of the body of the electric vacuum cleaner and the divided part 17 is provided with a handle part 18. The handle part 18 has an inverted U shape supported at two points on both sides thereof and is pivoted so that it can be levered to be housed into a recessed handle housing part 20 formed on the top cover 10. A body switch 26 which is constituted of an infrared rays receiving part 28, a power source switch 30 and a cord reel button 32 is provided at a front center of the top cover 10 being hung over the side of the lid cover 12. Besides, an operating condition display part 34 comprising a plurality of LEDs is provided on the top cover 10 between the handle housing part 20 and the body switch part 26.
