Abstract:
To provide an electro-optical device and an electronic apparatus excellent in display quality.SOLUTION: An electro-optical device comprises: a first substrate 21; a second substrate 31; and a liquid crystal layer 5 arranged between the first substrate and the second substrate, and in which light LL incident from the second substrate is emitted from the first substrate. The electro-optical device has a pixel electrode 23 arranged between the liquid crystal layer and the first substrate, a light-shielding unit 240 arranged between the pixel electrode and the first substrate, lenses arranged on a layer between the light-shielding unit and the pixel electrode and overlapping the pixel electrode in plan view, and a phase difference compensation plate arranged on a light incidence side with respect to the liquid crystal layer and compensating for the phase difference of light in the liquid crystal layer. In a display area A10, a light-blocking light-shielding member is not provided between the liquid crystal layer and the phase difference compensation plate. The lenses each include a first layer 251 arranged on a light-shielding unit side and a second layer 252 arranged on the pixel electrode side and different in refractive index from the first layer.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
