Title:
ELECTROCHEMICALLY TREATING METHOD FOR BUTYLALDEHYDE CONTAINED IN WASTE LIQUID FROM NUCLEAR FUEL REPROCESSING STEP
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3708274
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve safety at a post step by performing electrochemical treatment with silver used as a catalyzer, and oxydation decomposing butylaldehyde isomer into carbon dioxide and water.
SOLUTION: Nitrate waste liquid from a nuclear fuel reprocessing step is electrochemically treated and bytylaldehide contained in the liquid is oxidation decomposed into carbon dioxide and water. The electric potential of positive electrode is controlled to be not less than 1.6V and monovalent silver in the nitrate solution is made divalent one, then with the reaction between the divalent silver and water a strong radical in its oxidizing function is generated, whereby the bytylaldehide isomer in the solution is oxidation decomposed into carbon dioxide and water. The reaction is accelerated by increasing the temp. Since the isomer is completely oxydation decomposed in this way, it is unnecessary to remove remaining organic substance in the waste liquid before the evaporation concentration operation at a post step is carried out.
