Abstract:
1. An electrochromic indicating apparatus comprising a cell (11) which is constructed from a glass front plate (1), which has a layer sequence thereon consisting of a transparent contact layer (2), and an electrochromic tungsten trioxide (WO3 ) layer (3), which layer sequency is in contact with a liquid, gel-like, or solid electrolyte (4) in admixture with a contrast medium (5), and a rear wall serving as a rear electrode (3a) made of a glass plate (6) which has a layer sequence thereon identical with that on the glass front plate (1), or made of a metal plate having a tungsten trioxide (WO3 ) layer thereon, characterised in that the cell (11) is unsymmetrically constructed in such a way that the WO3 rear electrode (3a) is two to ten times thicker than the WO3 electrode (3) of the glass front plate (1).
