Abstract:
To provide an electrode for producing chlorine by means of electrolysis which is low in chlorine overvoltage and has excellent durability, to provide a method for producing the electrode, and also to provide an electrode which can be reduced in the film thickness of a covering layer and can easily be produced inexpensively, and to provide a method for producing the electrode.
In the electrode for producing chlorine composed of an electrode base material consisting of a valve metal and a covering layer covering the electrode base material, the covering layer is obtained by using metal platinum as a matrix, and dispersing an iridium oxide with the average particle diameter of 5 to 40 nm into the matrix.
