Title:
ELECTRODE FOR WELDING AND BRAZING
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS58141876
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an electrode for welding and brazing which is free from melt sticking and has high reliability, by forming coating layers of nitride, carbide or carbonitride in a specific thickness range on the surface of a copper alloy dispersed with oxide particles.

CONSTITUTION: An electrode for welding and brazing made of a copper alloy dispersed with ≤8vol% oxide is manufactured. Coating layers of nitride, carbide or carbonitride of 500W10microns (more particularly 0.5W5microns) thickness are formed on the surface thereof. The nitride is the nitride of group IVa, Va, VIa metels, the carbide is the carbide of groups IVa, Va, VIa, and the carbonitride is the carbonitride of groups IVa, Va, VIa. These coating layers are formed by vacuum deposition, PVD such as ion plating, or sputtering, or plasma CVD.
