Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prepare an electroplating film having a good adhesion property by providing a device used therefor with a means for immersing an Al strip into an acidic galvanizing bath and a means for applying galvanizing on the strip by cathode electrolysis thereafter.
CONSTITUTION: The Al strip 1 is passed along a deflector roll 2 and is made to travel perpendicularly downward in down pass in, for example, a vertical type electroplating cell 7 and is passed through the acidic galvanizing tank. The Al strip 1 is immersed into the plating bath 6 and is then made to travel perpendicularly upward in an up pass along a sink roll 3. The Al strip is subjected to the cathode electrolysis with a counter electrode 4 arranged in the up pass, by which the Al strip 1 is plated. The Al strip is immersed in the plating bath and is then electroplated in such a manner, by which the excellent adhesion property is obtd. Since the plating bath is a strong acid, the naturally oxidized film on the surface is dissolved by the immersion and the oxidized film on the surfaces are dislodged according thereto, by which the active Al metallic surfaces are exposed on the surfaces and that is why the adhesion property of the plating films is possibly improved.
