To obtain an electromagnetic wave absorbing sheet for millimetric wave band having a metal coating layer in which the effect of an adhesive layer on the electromagnetic wave absorbing characteristics is eliminated and the peak absorption frequency is located surely at a desired point.
A soft magnetic metal powder is dispersed into a matrix material of heat resistant rubber, e.g. acryl rubber, to produce a mixture which is then molded into a sheet. A metal foil, e.g. an aluminum foil or a stainless steel foil, is applied to one side of the sheet and, while being heated at a temperature within such a range as deterioration of rubber does not progress substantially, a pressure causing direct bonding of the sheet and the metal foil is applied for a required time, thus forming the electromagnetic wave absorbing sheet. Return loss of the electromagnetic wave absorbing sheet is 25 dB or above and reaches 35 dB when an electromagnetic wave of 76-77 GHz impinges vertically on the sheet.
